In the immense dark distance
Those tiny diamonds of light A multitude of sizes silently ignite Held captive in cold bright space Trillions of far away fires Millions of years transpire A world outside but felt within Growing, shrinking seldom seen To comprehend but only in our dreams Breathed, born and borne Named in silence, known in violence The stars, the sky, the call of highness It's not always the eyes, it's not always the hands
It can be in the words, it can be in the "did" or in the "can't" The pain of the thought, with or without the second glance I turn, I turn off, I try to think of something else The ivy roots, grows, consumes and nothing seems to help She passes, the screen flashes, the page drips with photo flesh Culture praises, skin rages, the heart is ruined and laid to rest She cries, true sex dies, the carnage of ill carnality takes lives I am not alone, I cast no stone, the struggle for holiness thrives Love as ammo, promise provides the shield, the battle is not yet lost Fight the war of we, as people and not just currency, if only I could turn my mind off Gifts bestowed and polished clean
For what it's worth it sinking in Power, blood, sweat and dirt The time in is doubled out Break me, build me, seek me, save me Fight you, fail you, love you, not you Sworn and swollen a journey begins Country calling and Spirit moving, marching either way I sign, I say, I ship out You try, you take, you teach This part sets the pace and starts the race What's next? I wait Where were you born, O expectation
Who crafted you, and why What makes up your assembly When did you begin Tell me, when will you end How do you control so much Yet so small in your invisibility Where does your power come from How is it that you feed on weakness Who doesn't feel your influence Who can resist it Where will you strike next When can I expect your appearance and who will I affect What is it you make me think, do or say How do you make me feel Who is it I become Your time is up, O expectation Grieve yourself, bid no ransom I'm on to a vaccination for your eradication What do I expect? Fruition Yours truly, Vindication It's a subtle thought, but leaves a mark
Or maybe it's a dream? I'm awake before it ends Was I asleep? It's not the first For the tenth time Though it feels new Of a different kind It's a life I once knew It's a place of Southern summer It's a home I once belonged to It's in the eyes of another Now hypothetical And in past tenses How sweet were those days With rooftops and flooded senses Can all that was Be all to only one? Or is it felt two ways Is it lost or undone? Come back, wake, pray Nothing good can come From thinking that way! These nights seem to have me hypnotized, for I cannot believe my eyes. I'm seeing stars. Stars in the place of stairs taking me away. Up, up and away with my heart left standing there amazed. These days are leaving me in a haze. Because they are not what others say. I'm hearing galaxies, in place of fallacies. And I'm shooting through the sky, far from where liars lie. How close to Heaven am I is not for me to decide. And I wouldn't miss a chance to feel the love of perfect hands. Showing me a new place to land. In a world beyond the sands of time. And I'm a approaching a heart just like mine, a shooting star. Somewhere in outer-space, or in the sparkling eyes of a pretty face. Forever here I'd stay, looking up while I pray. Never feeling along, in a heart I've got a home. I'll never be lost without a guiding light free of doubt. But if I have to leave, these stars and stairs, suddenly. I know I would believe, that it was meant to be for me to live a life above the mountains and the seas.
Is your life any better than mine? Are you living more free?
Can you see any better than me from your filthy seat? Fake what you want, but don't you run From the things that kept you here You are your own vice and device He's the one that's real Take what's nice in your life And tell me how it makes you feel See yourself in a different light Don't let it dim, let it ignite! I'll keep warm next to the fire Is your world stable or is it shaken up? Is earth falling from under your feet? Is it a shock to you or just enough? No life is lived in vain if you live it for the love Can you be your own seed? Or are you called only to plant? What is it in the answer you feel you need? To get it, even when you know it's out of sight Is it peace? Revenge? Life? Do I or don't I, will I or won't I, live to tell the tale of the soldier in flesh? In here or out there, in fear or not scared. Will it be me, this soldier in red? I'm not the weapon and you're not the war. This isn't Heaven and this isn't what's in store. For the soldier has come to fight, for his general makes the battles right. On this field, with mud and blood, and a book as a shield, the soldier fights for love. Win some or lose some, pick some or choose some. I can't make it change, I'm not the One who saves. Sooner or later, this doom that you've made up, is going to give you away. From the One who died, so you could say, say your peace, in the midst of such great strife. You have a warrior, you are protected, don't give up, it will be better than you ever expected. This soldier fights for love.
When did contrition go forgotten?
When did simplicity become a bore? Tomorrows are today's concern. Seeking bliss in ignorance around every turn. It all makes sense now, has it been this easy all along? Neon signs, billboards, TV and movies proclaim it. How can they be wrong? |
